4 Things to Prepare for Full-Time Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is one of those words that means different things to different people. Some people think of it as starting a business on your own. Other people think of it as taking over someone else's business. Still, others see it as something in-between. It doesn't matter what you think of as the essence of entrepreneurship; how you achieve that core does matter. There are several ways you can go about being an entrepreneur. Let's explore the different ways you can become an entrepreneur.

Develop a Character to Rely on

One way to become an entrepreneur is by relying on your character. If you have exemplary character, you cannot teach the one quality that is tenacity. Without it, nothing good can ever happen. Without it, success is not even a remote possibility. To develop this quality, you must find out what you really believe in and then relentlessly go after that goal with all the power of your will. In this case, your "willpower" refers to the fact you must do whatever is necessary to succeed. This usually means giving up your comfort zone, putting up with fools (and often, yourself), and changing your plans as needed when things get tough. Most people don't realize how difficult it is to DO something against the grain.

That's why so many people who "intend" to become entrepreneurs never actually make it past the idea stage. They get stuck in the "preparation phase." They get obsessed with the idea of becoming an entrepreneur, but they don't obsess enough about actually doing it.

Accordingly, they set goals that are not nearly challenging enough. This makes them feel good initially but soon causes them to lose their enthusiasm and start to slip into a state of apathy. Then, they give up. If you want to make this type of entrepreneur, here is a suggestion: Set a Goal Which Is Too Hard To Reach! It is much better to set a goal that is unreachable than a merely difficult one. Most people settle with only challenging the goal.

Unreachable, on the other hand, stir the juices and gets your blood pumping. The first few times you try to reach a dream like this, you won't succeed. That's because you haven't yet developed the quality of tenacity I mentioned earlier. But eventually, if you keep at it long enough, you WILL develop that quality. And when you do, the sky is the limit. You will be able to achieve goals considering they were out of reach for you. So what is the proper "challenge" level for you? That's a crucial question, and the answer will vary from individual to individual. In general, though, I suggest you aim for the highest goal, which is still within reach.

Be Insanely Self-motivated

Self-motivation is a crucial ingredient in all successful ventures. This is especially true for those of you who want to create an "empire-from-the-inside." You see, if you are going to be successful at creating an "empire-from-within," you must be more self-motivated than anyone who has ever tried before. It would be best if you were more self-motivated than anyone who will ever try.

And then, once you have inspired yourself (which is very easy to do), you must go out and motivate everyone else on the team. Surround yourself with positive, self-motivating people.

Open-minded towards learning

Successful entrepreneurs are always on the lookout for new ways to increase the productivity of their companies. They never assume they cannot improve something. They can, and they will improve it. Often, the entrepreneurs I know spend considerable time "hacking" their way to increased profits. They want to be involved in every aspect of their companies. And they are constantly on the lookout for new ideas which can be profitably incorporate into their businesses. It keeps your business fresh and vibrant. It prevents it from getting stale and boring. Fearless about making changes Many people get paralyzed when they hear the word "change." They immediately start thinking about all the things which might go wrong. They get worried about being unable to control the outcome. They worry about the impact the change will have on those around them. In short, they become scared!

Thus, they lose sight of all the benefits the change will bring about. Successful entrepreneurs don't let this happen to them. No. They see the advantages of the difference immediately. They don't waste any time worrying about the "what ifs." Instead, they get busy finding out "what is" so they can make it "what ought to be!" Fearless about taking risks. Taking risks is very different from being stupid. The idea of taking risks paralyzes most people because they are not well-informed about what constitutes risk.

Meeting the Standards of Professionalism

Most people fail to meet the standards of professionalism. In other words, they cannot deal with others in a businesslike manner. You see, most people suffer from a lack of self-esteem. They have an overinflated sense of their importance. Sometimes, this leads them to act in a manner that is both immature and arrogant. They have difficulty accepting criticism, even constructive criticism. They become offended and often respond with hostility. It isn't easy to work with them even if they have all the other characteristics mentioned above. Most people have a hard time learning anything unless it is in a positive light. But many people are so threatened by the mere thought of criticism that they literally can't take it!

Many "professional" people can't do this. This is a significant reason why so many business people never reach their potential.
